  • 2 nectarines or peaches of plums
  • 250ml water
  • 50g sugar
  • juice of ½ lemon and lemon rind
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cardomom pods
  • 2 star anise
  1. Add all the ingredients to a saucepan.
  2. Cut the fruit in half and remove the pip.
  3. Place cut side down in the saucepan and poach slowly in the syrup for 10 minutes.
  4. Serve while hot with the nougat, ice cream or cream
