The Duke of York Square Market in London

The Duke of York Square Farmers and Fine food market takes place every Saturday in Kings Road, Chelsea, London. However is more of a food merchants’ market, than a farmers market.  It is one  of my favourite smaller street markets to visit when in London.  It offers an amazing  range of some of London’s finest produce . When you visit you can enjoy the generous complimentary samples available at most of the  stalls which will be sure to tempt your taste buds for more.

Cheese, sushi, fresh coconut water from a young coconuts, duck confit, Brazilian steak, perfect pies, vegetables, fish, chocolate, cake, coffee, fresh juices, and delicious raw treats.

And the sweets, oh my word, what can I say about them – every type of nougat you could imagine, coconut ice,  fudge and turkish delight, my all time favourite.

And to add to the beauty of this little market, is the Saatchi gallery, found behind the  market in the square.   The Saatchi Gallery should never be missed when in London, and all exhibitions are free.  It provides an innovative forum for contemporary art, and presents work by mainly unknown young artists or by international artists whose work is not seen in the UK.

Gallery Mess at the Saatchi Gallery, is the beautifully decorated cafe and bar, with great food if you prefer to eat indoors.

There is a  beautiful grassy area in front of the gallery which is great to picnic in, with your favourite fare from the market. Oysters, bubblies, and delicious truffle cream brie.  What more could you wish for an a rare sunny day in London. And if the weather isn’t behaving itself, then keep warm with a spicy Jamaican stew, or one of the perfect hot lamb and red wine pie.
